Making Great Coffee

Medium Roast Coffee
PJ’s employs a medium roast strategy for the majority of its coffees. This means that we roast at a lower temperature, for a longer time, than most brands do, ensuring that the beans are not burned and they retain the full flavor of the country or region of origin (Colombia, Guatemala, Sumatra).

Blends
It’s probably not a surprise to learn that blends are simply a mixture of two or more roasted coffees. The result may be either a medium or dark roast and is usually a bolder flavor. PJ’s own Espresso Dolce ® is a classic example: Italian Espresso, French Breakfast, and Classic French Roast are combined to create a full-bodied flavor, with no bitterness.

Dark Roast
PJ’s dark roasted coffees are roasted at higher temperatures so that the beans take on the flavor of that roasting temperature. Because we use the highest quality beans, PJ’s dark roasted coffees are smoother in taste, with a richer aroma, than other brands’ dark roasts.

Flavored Coffee
PJ’s flavored coffee has become a year-round tradition. We add liquid flavorings to medium roast coffee. The liquid is absorbed into the beans creating a unique flavor and aroma. French Vanilla is our most popular, but we offer seasonal favorites throughout the year as well (Banana’s Foster, for example).
