PJ’s Coffee Brews Up New Location in Bay St. Louis

Growing Retail Coffeehouse Expands to Hancock County, Plans to bring 30 Locations to Mississippi

Bay St. Louis, Miss. - PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans, a New Orleans-based coffeehouse that demonstrates a “southern hospitality” experience, the freshest products, and better beans with superior roasting technique, is gaining momentum in the targeted state of Mississippi. The company announced today a signed agreement to bring a new location to Bay St. Louis by March. This announcement folds into the brand’s overarching development plans to bring up to 30 locations to Mississippi by 2020. Jim and Catherine MacPhaille are stepping into the coffee industry as owners of PJ’s Coffee Bay St. Louis. The MacPhailles are real estate developers that own and operate hundreds of commercial and residential properties in New Orleans and Bay St. Louis. With Mississippi neighboring the brand’s home state of Louisiana, it is a natural progression for PJ’s Coffee to continue growth throughout the region. The Bay St. Louis location will join eight other Mississippi locations in various stages of development and bring 15 new jobs to the community.

“We are excited to bring the New Orleans inspired flavors of PJ’s Coffee to Bay St. Louis and revive a building in the heart of the community on Main Street,” said Jim MacPhaille. “We know locals will appreciate and embrace the vibrant atmosphere and southern hospitality that PJ’s Coffee provides.”

PJ’s Coffee serves a wide variety of iced, frozen, hot, cold brew, and nitro-infused coffees using only the top one percent of Arabica beans, as well as organic tea and fresh breakfast pastries. PJ's famous iced coffees are brewed daily using a special cold-drip process that protects the flavor and strength of the beans, while producing a coffee that is two thirds less acidic - a process pioneered by PJ’s Coffee founder, Phyllis Jordan. “The strong regional presence of PJ’s Coffee stems from our superior product and exceptional customer service,” said Ballard Brands President, Peter Boylan. “The addition of the Bay St. Louis location will help fuel both our regional and national expansion. In the coming year we plan to focus on attracting qualified franchise owners to bring the PJ’s Coffee experience to new communities.” Additional target development cities throughout Mississippi with viable franchising opportunities include Jackson, Oxford and Columbus. PJ’s Coffee is known and loved in the region, as locals appreciate the familiar New Orleans inspired flavors and comfortable atmosphere. To become a part of the ever-growing $100 Billion a year global industry, prospective franchisees can expect a total investment range between $166,400 - $350,000 for non-traditional franchise units, and $350,000 - $440,000 for traditional units. The operating model and menu is adaptable to any environment with different options including kiosks and free-standing locations with a drive-thru, ranging from a few hundred square feet up to 2,200 square feet.
