  • What types of PJ's franchises are available?
PJ's offers single unit franchises and multi-unit development agreements in the south, southeast, and southwest regions. In some metropolitan areas, depending on the location available, we are also broadening the franchise opportunity to include a wine bar concept.

  • What types of locations fit into the PJ's site criteria?
PJ's franchises are generally 1200 to 2000 square feet. However, smaller or larger stores are an option. They are usually located in neighborhood and community strip centers, shopping malls, and downtown business district locations. The area is typically densely populated, has significant traffic count, is highly visible, and is located near numerous traffic generators. PJ’s has extensive real estate resources to guide you in this process.

  • Are there any continuing or ongoing fees after I pay the initial franchisee fee?
Yes. You pay an ongoing royalty fee of 5% of weekly gross sales. Advertising expenses include reserving 2% of your weekly gross sales to be paid into the PJ’s National Advertising Fund. Finally, if your franchise is part of a local co-op, an additional 1% of weekly gross sales may be required to be paid by you for local marketing.

  • Is experience in running a small business required?
While small business experience is helpful, it is not required. You will receive step-by-step training at PJ's headquarters in the important aspects of operating your business. What is required is Passion for both coffee and customer service.

  • Do I have to run the store?
You are not required to run your store, however, the most successful stores are those operated by the owner(s) or a seasoned retail manager.
